PRINT MOUNT SIZE:  30cm x 25cm maximum

PRINT SIZE: Any size up to a maximum of 30cm x 25cm

DIGITAL IMAGE SIZE: 1024 pixels wide x 768 pixels high at 72 dpi. No side should be longer than these numbers but can be shorter, as in the case of the portrait format. If your image is 1024 pixels wide but less than 768 pixels high, don’t try to make it 768 pixels high as this will distort your image. Conversely, if your image is 768 pixels high and less than 1024 pixels wide don’t try to make it 1024 pixels wide. Also if your image is a lot less than these dimensions, say 640 pixels x 480 pixels then your projected image will not look it’s best, to say the least!

Prints must show Competitition Title, Membership Number, Section and Image Title (Exactly the same as your entry form) in the top left hand corner on the reverse of your print. This enables the print to be displayed the right way up. Why? Sometimes image orientation isn’t that obvious.

Please make sure that you do not have any loose adhesive on the front or back of your prints, as it can, and frequently does stick to other images and can ruin an image. Make sure that if you are using a backing board to a windowed mount that you make sure it is securely affixed. It isn’t the Competition Secretaries job to correct mistakes.

To enable the efficient processing of images for our monthly competitions it is essential that all digital files are named correctly, so that the entrant’s details are contained within the file name. They should be jpg images. The information required to be used is as follows;

The digital image name should start with your member number, then a space, the section initial (C, M or D),  another space and then your ‘title’ in sentence case.

Example:  24 M Steam Special.jpg

This information is essential to aid the slide show processing.

You DO NOT need to put your name in the file name.

To rename your images, use the RENAME facility. In Windows right click on the image  and from the drop down menu click on RENAME and highlight the old file name and then enter your new title as per the instructions above ensuring that the new name finishes with .jpg

If you are unsure about any aspect relating to our Monthly Competitions please ask a member of the committee, doing this can save everyone a lot of time, and you getting a rejection.

The best 4 from 5 section scores will be used to determine the overall final score in each section.

The winners of the three sections will be awarded a Trophy.

The Photographer of the Year, (Sid Cearns Trophy) will be awarded to the best overall image from 15 section winners (5 competitions x three sections).
