Liverpool on Film – Tues 29th Jan 2013 at 7.30pm

The North West Film Archive at Manchester Metropolitan University is pleased to announce Liverpool on Film’, a part of its programme to make this fascinating collection available to the public of the North West region. The NWFA will present a public screening of films from its collection at the Woolton Picture House.

The screening will take place on Tuesday 29th of January at 7.30pm.

The screening is a compilation of material from the past century of life in the Liverpool area. Highlights of the selection include the chance to ride of the Overhead Railway in 1897 in Liverpool Scenes, the oldest known footage of the city, and to step on board the Cunard liners as they sail for Canada in 1923. Spend A Day in Liverpool in 1929 and see how new Homes for workers were springing up in both the pre-war and post war eras. Join the staff at the Daily Post and Echo as they see how the paper will serve Tomorrow’s Merseysiders and look back at how the new county was promoted as the Pool of Life in 1980.
