SLPS Annual DPI 2015 – Judging

Article by Mal Holmes

and the winner is…….

Thursday 02/04/15, saw a not so old friend of the Society, KT Allen, judge the SLPS open DPI competition.
KT started her judging with the rules of the competition, and started the ball rolling with a showing of the SLPS images which did not make the prize categories…. However, in saying this, KT managed to give a thorough and genuine critique, on ALL the images shown, which was warmly welcomed by the whole of the membership.
The evening seemed to pass very quickly… as KT got to the Commended, Highly Commended and Very Highly Commended, and it would be fair to say, that many of those shown in these categories could easily have made it to the top three, in most other competitions… the quality of the images was that high.

However, KT had the unenviable task of picking the Top three, and what images they were….
Third Place went to a ‘superb’ image produced by Tom Jeffers… entitled ‘Andy on Helvellyn’.

Second Place went to Irene Drummond, with a beautifully toned monochromatic image, entitled ‘Scoundrels & Gentlemen’.

And the winner…. Dave Harding’s  magical B&W with Faux colour… Infrared image entitled ‘The Wicker Woman’.
