Last night, Monday the 15th June was a good night to remember. Graham Currey, the SMCC President invited us a while back to participate in this competition, as he thought that both of our clubs were of a similar standard. So last night we tootled down to Prestbury with our six pdi and six print images to see if this was true, and to see whether we were good enough to come in the top two or three. The judge for the evening was Robert Millin, from the world famous Wigan 10.
The first half which was the pdi section. There were some really great images and at the end of the section we were 3 points off the lead in second place, behind Atherton and District. We scored 107 against their 110. So we were quite happy at that moment.
Going into the print section next. There were some great prints to beat, but we were only 3 points behind. Wow, was the competition stiff? Nip and tuck all around and we came second in this section as well. The leader board in this section had changed, South Manchester were in the lead 108 to 105, so we are looking good at the moment. We just had to wait for the totals. The projection programme is Dicentra so it added it all up by itself. The individual clubs had their own score sheets to keep track of proceedings as well.
With all the points now in, we had 107 in the dpi round for second place and 105 for the print round for second place for a total of 212. This put the difference between first and second place at just 3 points. It’s a good job that we were in first place!!!
