Fab Four Competition Rules Change
The following changes to the Fab 4 competition were agreed upon by committee on July 21st 2008
1/ The Competition will have four separate sections as follows
a Colour print panel
b Mono print panel
c Slide panel
d Digital images panel
2/ Each panel to consist of four images presented in horizontal OR square format
3/ Every panel must have images of a common theme throughout
The first competition will be in Sept/ Oct 2009

Monthly Competition Rules Change
The following changes to Monthly competitions were agreed upon by committee on July 21st 2008
1/ One additional section to be called Digital section, maximum dimensions to be 1024 width, 768 height, at 72dpi, submitted on a CD only.
The 4 Sections are now:
--Slide
--Digital
--Mono print
--Colour print
2/ Maximum submission of one image per section
3/ Maximum total submission of four images.
4/ Best image of the evening will receive £10.00 voucher
5/ All section winning images will be entered into Best image of the Year Sid Cairns Trophy.
6/ Print submissions to be submitted with digital copies on a CD.

ANNUAL AV COMPETITION 2008
Closing date for entries: Thursday 7th August 2008
Entries are requested for the annual Audio Visual Competition. The results evening will take place on Thursday 28th August.
Rules - sequences can be on any subject but should not be longer than 9 minutes in length. A maximum of 3 sequences per entrant. Previously entered sequences are not allowed.
Entry by completion of entry form submitted with a CD to Martin Reece by the deadline.

L&CPU ANNUAL RESULTS!
Congratulations! to Martin Reece MBE ARPS who won 3rd place in the General Digital
Image Section with "Full Throttle", and Eric Garnett ARPS CPAGB who won a Certificate of
Merit for "Short Eared Owl" in the Natural History Print Section. All three of Eric's natural history shots were accepted for the L&CPU folio. Well done, also, to Noel George who's image "Poppy Heads" has been selected for the PAGB. Besides Eric, several other SLPS members had images retained for the L&CPU folio. They include: Helen Cohen, Noel George, Brian Glassman, Lynn Hilditch LRPS, Mike McWade, and Martin Reece MBE ARPS.
Well done, to everyone who entered!

INTER-MERSEYSIDE RESULTS!
Congratulations! to Southport Photographic Society and St Helens Camera Club who became the joint winners of the 2008 Inter-Merseyside Print and Slide Competition last night (15th May). South Liverpool came in second place. Also, well done to the South's Paul Scoullar who won the best print trophy with his nature photograph, "Owl Stare". Colin Douglas from St Helens won the best slide trophy.
Many thanks to Mike McNamee for judging the competition and, of course, a special thanks to Noel Greenwood and Mike McDonnell for organising another successful event.

MONTHLY COMPETITION RESULTS!

PAGB GREAT BRITISH CUP RESULTS
The first PAGB Great British Cup Digital competition was judged on Saturday (1st March). 88 national clubs entered and the SLPS came a reasonable 41st with 193 points. Inevitably, the winners were Wigan 10 with 249 points. For the full list of results, go to the L&CPU website.

SLPS EXHIBITION OF PHOTOGRAPHS AT THE QUAKER MEETING HOUSE
A small exhibition of images by SLPS members will go on show this week at the Quaker Meeting House in School Lane, Liverpool. The official opening is on Friday 1st February. The intention is to have a permanent exhibition that will be rotated using different members' images on a regular basis. Why not drop in for a free cup of coffee and have a look?

"WHO ARE THE CHAMPIONS?" COMPETITION RESULTS!
WELL DONE to Helen Cohen who won the Best Photograph award at the "Who Are the Champions?" competition at Southport on Monday 14th January. The SLPS did extremely well on the night and were leading at the interval. We finally came second, but only 1 POINT behind the winners, Wigan 10. The SLPS entry consisted of images from 11 members including Tony Myers FRPS, Martin Reece MBE ARPS, Patsy Prentice ARPS BPE1*, Eric Garnett ARPS CPAGB, Noel George, Bill McDonough, Lynn Hilditch LRPS, Colin Fletcher, Vic Pigula, Paul Scoullar and Helen Cohen.
