Jan 31st – * change to schedule * Members evening – Amy Ashley-Mather and Tony Myers

Article by Mal Holmes

31st January 2019, our guest speaker for this evening had to cancel… but this gave us the chance to call on ‘Ancient & Modern’ members of the Society… to take up the baton, and give us all a great evening.

First up was one of our newest members, Amy Ashley-Mather, Amy showed no nervousness when she gave a superb first half showing of a recent trip to Nepal, taken as half-holiday, half-charity work, with her supporting charity… ‘So the Child may Live’…. You can view the Charity’s work below…

It was a joy, to witness, such a confident young member, with so much enthusiasm for her photography, and charity work. Amy told us all of her adventures, walking and climbing the Annapurna mountain range, lakes and little villages along her adventure trial, taking images of the people, sights and animals which met her during her visit… after Amy’s talk, we passed a bowl around, and members made donations to her stated charity…

After our regular cuppa, raffle and social chat… the second part of the evening got under way….

Our very own Tony Myers FRPS, addressed the Society, with one of his trips to India, taken with Nick Hilton from Southport PS some time ago, but with different images on show, some quirky comments and a lot of laughs… tony once again made it such an enjoyable end to the evening…

It never ceases to amaze me, of the quality, and expertise of our own members, in that… at short notice, they can put together, such an entertaining night for the membership… and what a night it was…..
