Thursday 02/11/17

Tonight’s Society Meeting welcomed Clubs and Societies, from the local area, for the annual ‘Martin Avery’ inter-club competition. The clubs joining us for the evenings ‘battle’ were… Chorley, North Cheshire, South Manchester and Southport. The subject was to be… ‘Creative’

Each Society/Club submitted 12 prints, and DPI’s of the prints were shown on the large screen for those attending… Judging the competition was the very experienced, Photographic Artist… Joan Blease you can view Joan’s superb artistry below at her site…

The format for this hotly contested competition, was… the prints were randomly selected, to be viewed by Joan, and each print was anonymous of both photographer and club identity, and as such, Joan could only mark them on merit, with a score of 15 to 20 marks for each print entry… When all prints were shown, the adjudicators, totted up each individual print score, and assigned the score to the relevant Society/Club. The highest score, would win the competition. However, Joan would pick one image, as the ‘image’ of the night… with a runner-up image.

When all marks were added up… Chorley Photographic Society, claimed the accolade as 2017 champions. Joan also decided, the the overall winning image on the night, would be awarded to Adrian Lines MPAGB FBPE EFIAP ARPS also from Chorley PS, for an astounding and truly fantastic composite image, titled ‘Marooned’ a stunner to say the least !!! Joan also awarded the runner-up as Adrian’s wife… Jane Lines LRPS, MPAGB, BPE5*, for a her great Gothic composite.
