Tonight’s scheduled event, was the SPLS ‘auction’ night, which is always held as the SLPS year, draws to a close. allowing the membership, the chance of donating or commission selling items which are no longer used, or with little use.

The membership, perused all the items on offer, which were mainly genre photography books, which were doing the round from the last auction, there were also some new ones not seen before…lol. there were some great lenses to be had, along with mainly analogue cameras in super condition.

Martin & Paul, led the auction, and encouraged bidding amongst the membership present, much to the amusement of those of us gathered, Some of the membership spent around a three figure sum, with one picking up a great bargain of an almost new and boxed Manfrotto 3-way head which cost £165 new… but found a new home for £45… What a bargain !!!

The night nearly ended with another book auction, but this time, the books belonged to Eric Garnett, husband of Heather, who sadly succumbed to a long illness some time ago. Eric’s genre was mainly nature, and landscapes, and the books on offer were to have the proceeds divided equally between the Society and a Charity of Heather’s choice.

However, it was felt by the membership, that tonight was not the night to proceed with this addition auction, simply because of the depletion of available funds in the memberships pockets. Therefore it was decided to hold a ‘special’ Eric Garnett auction night, in the near future when the membership and invited guests, could scrutinise the books (many signed) and bid accordingly, to maximise the experience along with the proceedings… to be continued….
